S.O.S -Tapirulan Competition Brief


  • I Decided that I wanted to push myself to go through a whole process in creating a piece of work that was up to a professional standard which could be sent into a competition
  • I chose this particular brief because it was quite open and gave me a 2 week deadline.
  • I learnt a lot from this brief in terms of creating work to a higher standard than i have done previously for non live briefs
  • It also Taught me a lot about my own personal process it comes to my work specifically the refinement and finished product stage. 




  • This brief forced me to make quick decisions when it came to how much time I spent drawing sketches and what I could achieve in the amount of time I had
  • Tracing paper is a great tool in that it allows for the mending of mistakes without feeling like you have to redo everything
  • Talking to both Tutors and other Students really helped me when it came to looking at my work from a more critical standpoint.
  • I'm happy with the final product. This made me realise my need to start creating more finished and refined pieces of work .
  • Simplistic and flat colours when it comes to digital work is something I'm learning about doing instead of trying to blend everything the work looks cleaner and less forced
  • Analog lining allows for a freer and more expressive sense of line work whereas the digital colouring allows for the work to have a sense of solidity to it.







  •  These Colour experiments and allowed me to see how if done right a set of colours meld well together no matter how you change the hue and saturation.
