1.     What skills have you developed through this brief and how effectively do you think you have applied them?


·       Creating linked images throughout a series of formats- though most where successful (like the greetings from brief) remembering and time managing myself for the bigger projects like person of not did become an issue sat some point.
·       Becoming more adaptable to new methods and skills. More towards the end of this module I found myself forcing myself out of my comfort zone a lot more often worth the methodologies used and as an illustrator it really effected they way I began to see the way illustration can be categorised and how it has the flexibility to be a lot more than just drawing characters.
·       My work ethic has improved as I’ve learnt to sit and work solid for longer hours than before- Learning how to do 10 hour work days (this is a big dealio for me with my attention span) by removing myself from points of distraction such as people I know by going to the computer room.



2. What approaches to/methods of image making have you developed and how have they informed your concept development process?

My initial worries of using type and lens are out the window this module taught me that I can use so many more types of media than just pen and paper to create character and illustration and if things begin to fall out of what the common perception of illustration is it doesn't matter because as long as I believe it what I'm doing it is illustration to me.

My digital skills have gone up by like 80% since this module I’ve learnt more about layering, lining and colour through both lectures and a lot of practical work. Which has allowed me to be able to make so many chances and re-dos without using up a lot of paper and ruining my work by smudging it since its on screen instead of in my hands.



3. What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these?

My humour- I’m always resistant to using my humour in my work as I feel like it’s a cheap ploy as being “funny” comes naturally to me. However especially on the last brief of this module I realised how by embracing my use of humour I feel more connected to my work and personally feel like it allows for the viewer to connect and react better to my work because of the humour I employ within it.

With this module I made myself self reflect on past feedback about my lack of trying out and pushing myself with how I see and make illustration. And because of this self reflection I capitalised on seeing my weaknesses as areas of improvement and was able to make some really interesting work because of this


4. What weaknesses can you identify in your work and how will you address these in the future?

Time management- I start blogging a bit every day at the start of a module but then it spirals into a pit of no blogging for like 1 month and all the thought and realisations and self evaluations I have are lost. –Get a picture with Matts face that says have you blogged today stuck to my wall to remind/guilt me into blogging.


My scruffy type-Practice, practice, practice. It’s all I can really do with that as well as look at other medias to draw type with and gain an archive of hand typographic knowledge.

5. Identify five things that you will do differently next time and what do you expect to gain from doing these?

·      Blog every day- I won’t be dead the day before deadline
·      Be decisive- Helps I to become a better decision maker and stop over producing multiple ideas that get away from the briefs main aims.
·      Be reflective- This helps both speed up development of work but also development of self making me a better designer and artist
·      Quite time- Being away from people I know helps me to both focus and produce better qualities of work however this only helps if I am surrounded by strangers as I tend to feel obliged to work but once I’m in the zone I’m gone.
·      Have instant food in at home-so then I am not skipping meals because I’m too tired to cook and making myself more tired which effects work.
